设计说明:

The team considers the abandoned quarries in the mountain area of the southern city as an opportunity to be further involved in the new town construction process: recycled construction waste from building construction/renovation will be used for structuring materials in quarry land capping, treated dredge soil and sludge are prefect resource of soil amelioration, recollected organic waste from nearby village is processed to organic fertilizer for plantation in quarry. On the other, restored quarry could be seedling nursery for urban greening project such as Garden Exhibition, village re-greening and other road greening. In the future, reclaimed quarries are various entertaining parks or urban landscapes for the new town residents.


设计感悟:

Unlike the original urban expansion and new town projects in China, the proposal seeks to encourage further involvement of different infrastructural building project that used to play on their own. Industrial wasteland in our concept is a productive landscape for dealing with stressing problems along with urban working system and constructions. A detailed model could be developed to present to the Huangshi Urban Planning Bureau for further discussion.
